Can you believe it?

Lexi and Teal is 1 today.

It amazes me that we're now a year down the line. Where has the time gone?

I remember when I had the initial idea for the brand, and to now see it realised and to watch how it's grown this past year has been incredible. What a journey! Sometimes I've felt great, and at other times it's all got a little baffling, but I've learnt sooo much.

Milestones make me reflective, so I'm just going to take a moment and share 4 things I've discovered and valued during my first year in business.


Having a business is tough

O.K I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Running a business is hard. Don't get me wrong. I've loved this year, and I love Lexi and Teal, but being in business has been much harder than I could have imagined.

It's funny, really, because when you think about launching a brand, you think you have this really well-thought-out plan. But the thing I've realised this year (and in life generally) is that a detailed plan is all well and good until life happens. It's been a year of growth not only for the business but also for me personally. I've had to adapt to the ever changingness (is that even a word?) of life, but it's made me more resilient, and I've taken that back to the brand.


A warm welcome means a lot

We've received an amazing reception from our lovely customers and other businesses. Setting up on your own is a daunting prospect. But when you realise that so many businesses are routing for your success, it feels so much easier.

What our brand stands for and what we embody has been received well from everyone I've spoken to. And that makes the whole experience of starting a business so much more fun. I was a little anxious when we launched because we were slap bang in the middle of a pandemic, and the second lockdown had started in the UK. But, I didn't need to worry. I think that the enforced downtime has really allowed people (myself included) to decide what's important to them and given them time to notice and experience new brands.


Our customers are amazing

I couldn't ask for better customers. As a new brand, they gave us a chance when they could have easily gone to a more established brand for their silk goodies. I appreciate that they've allowed us to show them what we offer, and I love them so much for the trust they've shown us.


The future is exciting

I see big things for us. I want us to continue to grow and be there for our customers over the coming years. Of course, I have plans for what I'd like us to achieve and the kind of products we'll be launching in the future, but as I've experienced this year, a plan can and will change.

I look forward to seeing where we are in 2, 3, 5 and 10 years.
